Faculty in the Department of Justice, Law & Society are leading scholars in the fields of criminal justice, criminology, terrorism, law and society, among other areas.

Located in Washington, DC, the School of Public Affair's Department of Justice, Law & Society offers courses of study at the doctoral, graduate, and undergraduate levels, including master's and Ph.D. programs in Justice, Law and Society.

Through SPA’s Justice Programs Office, JLS faculty scholarship is shared with the AU and Washington communities, and across the nation.

Tankel Joins Wilson Center as Summer Research Scholar

JLS Professor Stephen Tankel has been asked to join the Wilson Center as a Summer Research Scholar. The Wilson Center appoints outstanding scholars, practitioners, journalists and public intellectuals to be in residence as Public Policy Scholars. Professor Tankel will join the Wilson Center for a short-term residential appointment after completing field research in India and Bangladesh, and will serve as a Research Scholar through August in a joint appointment to the International Security and Asia programs. The project he will be working on builds on research undertaken in 2008-2010 to assess the Pakistani militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba's involvement in supporting indigenous jihadists in India as well as research conducted in Pakistan in summer 2011 regarding that country's policies concerning the evolving militant milieu based there.
