SIS Alumni

In 1957, School of International Service founders conceived of a school for 400 students and 20 faculty. Today, SIS is the largest and most applied to school of international relations in the world with over 3,000 students and more than 150 faculty.

Your support plays a vital role in fostering and preserving SIS’s mission to challenge students to confront the issues of our increasingly interdependent world with hope and a belief that they truly can “wage peace.” Your meaningful investment in SIS facilitates the education of the next generation of world leaders and global citizens. The dedication of our alumni, parents, faculty, staff, and friends produces tangible benefits for students and increases the quality of an American University education—thank you.

SIS Internship Fund

The School of International Service (SIS) Internship Fund, created in 2011 by Dean James M. Goldgeier, provides financial assistance to SIS students pursuing unpaid internships to enhance their academic experience and future career prospects.  SIS students are eligible to apply for support from this Fund and the selection process is at the discretion of the dean of SIS.

Support for the SIS Internship Fund comes from generous alumni, friends, parents, faculty, and staff of SIS.  Every dollar given to the Fund directly assists an SIS student by helping to defray the costs associated with performing an internship without compensation.  Contributions to the SIS Internship Fund can be made online, or by referencing ways to make your gift.

Annual Giving

You can have an immediate impact on the future of SIS through a gift of any amount to the School of International Service Dean’s Fund, which supports the immediate needs and priorities of the school.

Annual contributions of $2,500 or more are recognized at the President’s Circle level, AU’s leadership annual giving society.
