Applying to SIS: Step by Step
1. Determine your degree program
When applying to SIS, you must apply to a specific degree program as opposed to the School in general. Different programs have different requirements, so it helps to make this decision first to guide your planning.
2. Become a VIP
Sign up for your SIS VIP account to customize your SIS admissions page. Your VIP account username and password will also be used to start your application. After you apply, you can login to your VIP account to see the current status of your application.
3. Take any standardized tests required
Be sure to review the application requirements webpage to see program-specific requirements. Official GRE and TOEFL scores must be sent directly to SIS from ETS. The online application allows you to upload an unofficial score report for internal reference purposes.
4. Assemble Your Application Materials
Collect any required materials needed for your application, including your resume/CV and statement of purpose. Official academic transcripts should be sent directly to SIS Graduate Admissions at the address below. Please submit all of your relevant hard copy materials in one envelope if possible.
Notify those who will be providing your recommendations- they will be able to upload their letters electronically. Should your recommenders prefer to send their letters via mail, you must fill out the recommendation cover sheet and send it directly to your recommender to complete. Mailed recommendation letters must be received together with the recommendation cover sheet in a signed and sealed envelope.
5. Apply Online
You're ready to apply! You can save and edit your online application as often as you like until you are ready to submit it. Your application cannot be submitted until you have uploaded your resume, statement of purpose, and recommenders' contact information. Once you have submitted your application, ensure that all materials have reached our office by checking your application status on your VIP page.
