The first goal in American University's strategic plan states that "our faculty will epitomize the ideal of the scholar-teacher by blending research, teaching and service into an inspiring whole." The Center for Teaching, Research and Learning (CTRL) has expanded its mission to facilitate, support and celebrate AU's scholar-teachers. To achieve this expanded mission we have added research support to our teaching and learning programming. CTRL will be partnering with the Vice Provost for Graduate Studies and Research to deliver a variety of research programs. CTRL will co-sponsor research workshops and noon-time conversations, deliver training on research technology and methodology, and develop research sessions for the Ann Ferren Teaching Conference. CTRL is also excited to introduce a new faculty award that highlights the blending of teaching and research. The annual Teaching with Research Award will recognize faculty who have successfully integrated their research into one or more courses.
