Workshops and Series

- Ann Ferren Conference
This one-day annual conference, focused on teaching, research and learning, features panel presentations, round-table discussions and hands-on workshops led by AU faculty.
- Technology in the Classroom
This series of short workshops on using new technology tools in the classroom is offered throughout each semester.
- Teaching & Technology
Offered in August each year, this two-day workshop prepares faculty members to use various campus technology including Blackboard and Wimba.
- Faculty Orientations
An orientation is organized for new tenure-track faculty each August while adjunct faculty orientations are held prior to each semester.
- Greenberg Seminars for PhD and MFA students
The program provide a hands-on, practical introduction to professional development and classroom techniques.
- AU Entré Workshops for first- and second-year faculty
These include orientation programs for first-year faculty before classes begin, special AU Entré programming for first and second year tenure-line faculty and invitations to other events run by CTRL. - Noontime Conversations for Faculty
The Center for Teaching, Research & Learning sponsors two-three conversational lunches per semester focused on topics of special interest to Faculty. Past Noontime Conversations have included training on Endnote Bibliographic Software, Making Your Own Film as a Learning Tool, and Doing Justice to Ethics in the Classroom. The Research Support Group hosts several Research Methods Seminars each semester to showcase the work of professional researchers. This series is designed to encourage creative and collaborative research design for faculty at AU, as well as increase students' awareness of research trends and methods. The speakers are invited to share a recent research project with particular emphasis on method selection, implementation and analysis. - Student Research Forum
This forum is sponsored by CTRL's Research Support Group. It highlights AU student research and allows students to share their learning experiences with selected research methods. The presentation will emphasize the researcher's method selection, implementation and analysis.

Library & CTRL
During the summer (2011) CTRL and AU Library worked together to transfer a number of CTRL services to the library following a spring announcement of these changes by University Provost Scott Bass. Services now managed by the library include the New Media Center, Blackboard and Wimba support, as well as Audio Video and Academic Multimedia Services.
