Technology in the Classroom Workshop Series
This fall we will be continuing our Technology in the Classroom Workshop series to include all new content and tools. Each workshop features a key pedagogical strategy along with an online tool that supportsthat activity in the classroom. Please join us as we explore how to increase student engagement, improve student outcomes, and build the 21st century curriculum. Example of topics include:
- Using Blackboard in Face to Face Classes
- Creating Interactive Timelines with Dipity
- Non-Linear Lectures with Prezi
- Digitizing Your Documents with Adobe Acrobat

Personalized Training
One-On-One Software Tutorials for FacultyPlease contact Anna Olsson (aolsson@american.edu or 202-885-6077) if you would like to request a one-on-one tutorial. Depending on what software you are interested in learning, we will either schedule a tutorial with one of our trainers or refer you to another campus training location.

LaTeX
Introduction to LaTeX
Friday, April 6th, 11:30am – 1:00pm
Hurst 202
This workshop will introduce you to the basic structure of Latex, providing a description of the Latex system and going over essential Latex commands and environments. It will also demonstrate how to typeset formulae with Latex so that mathematical documents of high typographical quality may be produced. Time permitting, references, and bibliography generation will also be explained. RSVP at ssrl@american.edu
Using the LaTeX Dissertation Template
Friday, April 13th, 11:30am – 1:00pm

AU’s LaTeX dissertation template can vastly simplify the dissertation writing and formatting process. In this workshop, we cover the downloading, installation, as well as utilization of the template and its associated files. All graduate students with an interest in using LaTeX for thesis/dissertation preparation are encouraged to come. RSVP at ssrl@american.edu
