Jorge Abud

Assistant VP for Facilities Development, & Real Estate

  • Jorge Abud has worked at American University for 31 years, with 28 years of that time in a variety of facilities roles. He is currently responsible for overall capital planning and execution of facilities development projects, management of real estate and leading sustainability initiatives. He provides guidance and strategic planning for the development of facilities to support the institution’s mission. In previous roles, he had been responsible for facilities operations and maintenance; mail; dining services; real estate management; and facilities planning, acquisition, design, and construction. Working on the development of the Sports Center, Tenley Campus, Washington College of Law, Katzen Arts Center, School of International Service and many other projects, Jorge has contributed to more than doubling the university’s facilities. He has also led the advancement of service delivery to focus on providing a high quality campus environment.
    Jorge is a past president of the Academic Facilities Council of the International Facility Management Association.
