Datatel's Colleague and Colleague Advancement Systems

AU's administrative computing systems comprise two integrated applications developed by Datatel, Inc. Colleague consists of integrated modules to manage student academic records, financial information, and human resources records. Colleague Advancement supports the development and alumni support initiatives at the university. Please note: This system uses your synchronized my.american.edu password.

For a new Datatel account or to modify your assigned security classes, go to the specialized account request form to submit your request for approval.

To work with Datatel, your computer will need the UI Client. Instructions for downloading the client will be provided to you after your Datatel account is created.

Colleague and Colleague Advancement are maintained by the enterprise systems group within the Office of Information Technology. Divided into three teams, we make every effort to understand the needs of our customers with an emphasis on providing timely, relevant, and accurate services.

  • The Business Applications team supports purchasing, accounts payable, general ledger, accounts receivable, financial aid, personnel, payroll, and job and applicant tracking.
  • The Student Applications team supports academic programs (degrees and concentrations), course definition, course enrollment, grade entry and reporting, advising and counseling, graduation eligibility, and residential life services. This team also supports the Colleague Advancement and Core modules.
  • The Applications Management team provides specialized programming, security, troubleshooting, and software update services.
