Workstation Standard Images

IT Asset Management Program

Imaging Process Overview

Standard workstation images are currently created by the IT Asset Management team for Dell workstations only, using Symantec Ghost.

Images are loaded with AU licensed software, the latest Windows service packs, and security patches.

New images are created at least twice per year. Images may also be created when:

  • Dell discontinues the sale of the existing standard machines and introduces a new line of computers.
  • There is a need to update a major software application or operating system.

After the image is built, OIT Information Security assesses the image against industry security benchmarks. The OIT Help Desk also performs acceptance tests on installed images.
