Meet the SI leaders
Emily Hoerner
Emily Hoerner is a senior in SIS (international development,
environmental politics) with a minor in Economics. This is her
fifth semester working as an economics SI. Last year
Emily studied abroad in Nairobi, Kenya, and will be leading an Alternative Spring Break to Nairobi in March of 2012. After graduation, she hopes to work for a small non-profit focused on the intersection of the environment and development and possibly pursue an MPA degree. Emily is from Pittsburgh, PA.
Keri Lartz
Keri is a senior majoring in business with a specialization in
marketing and psychology. This is her third semester as an
SI in accounting. She is an RA in Centennial Hall and was previously in Anderson and gives tours through the Ambassadors. Last year she studied abroad in Rome, Italy. When not in class or working you can probably find her at the gym.
Abby Quick

Abby is a junior, from Washington, DC. She is majoring in
psychology and minoring in math. This is her second
semester working as an SI leader for statistics. She enjoys
spending time with friends, watching television, and playing with animals. After graduating, Abby would like to be a middle or high school math teacher.
Terri Poxon-Pearson
Terri Poxon-Pearson is a Junior Political Science and Physics ,
major from Cincinnati, Ohio. She is the SI for Physics 110 and
Fall 2011 is her second semester as an SI. Outside of school,
Terri enjoys playing club field hockey and riding her motorcycle. After graduation Terri plans on joining the Peace Corps before attending grad school.
Moira Esson
Moira Esson is currently a sophomore studying in the College
of Arts and Sciences as an Undeclared major, though she
hopes to declare a major very soon. This is her second
semester as a Supplemental Instruction Leader for General Chemistry. In her free time, Moira can often be found sitting on the quad drinking a cup of coffee.
Nora Gibson
Nora is a senior in the College of Arts and Sciences pursuing
a degree in Psychology. She is also enrolled in the Pre-Med
program and has a minor in Spanish language, after
spending Spring 2011 in Madrid, Spain. She worked as a tutor in the DC public schools for three years, and looks forward to bringing her experience to AU this semester. Nora can often be found in Katzen, practicing her flute or playing in the orchestra. After college, Nora hopes to do research for the National Institutes of Health and later attend medical school.
Gabby Lopez
Gabby is currently a sophomore in SPA potentially double
majoring in CLEG and Economics. This is her first semester
as an SI leader for microeconomics. On her free time she
plays guitar, ventures DC, and especially loves to spend time with friends. She plans on studying abroad during her junior year at the London School of Economics. After graduation she hopes to have a job dealing with economic policy before attending law school.
Ariel McMillan
Ariel McMillan is a junior in the Kogod School of Business
and School of International Service studying Business
Administration focusing in Marketing and International
Studies focusing in International Economic Policy. This her first semester as an SI but she has had experience tutoring through the Academic Support Center. In addition to being an SI, Ariel currently service as the Vice President of the School of International Service Undergraduate Council, Deputy Director of Outreach and Recruitment for Student Government and is a BlackBerry Campus Ambassador through Mr. Youth. Ariel has plans to study abroad in the Fall in the Madrid, Spain.
Chen Vaisburd
Chen Vaisburd, from Israel, is a junior, double majoring in
Business Administration and International Relations,
focusing on International Business and the Middle East. This
is his first semester as an S.I for Financial Accounting. When he is not teaching accounting, Chen is looking for tracks where he can drive race cars and visits the gym.
Zach Duey
Zach is currently a sophomore studying Mathematics and
Economics as well as Philosophy. He is also pursuing minors
in Finance and Computational mathematics in the hopes of
better preparing himself for graduate studies in economics. He has tutored in both macro and micro as well as statistics; however, this is his first semester with SI. He is an avid ultimate frisbee player with AU's club team and hails from Chicago, Illinois.
Charles Merrick
Charles Merrick is a sophomore from the United Kingdom. He
is majoring in Economics and is a Supplemental Instruction
Leader for Macroeconomics for the first time this semester.
In his free time,Charles enjoys getting involved in plays and working on ATV.
Chris Malerich
Fall 2011 is Chris’s third semester as an SI leader for Applied Calculus. A senior in the College of Arts and Sciences, Chris is working toward degrees in Philosophy and Mathematics. Academically, his interests lie in 19th and 20th century continental philosophy and formal logic. Outside his never ending coursework, he is enthused by classical music, baseball, and horror movies. His future goals include graduate work in mathematics and one day moving to Germany.
Ross Wittenberg
Ross is a first-semester graduate student getting an MS in Accounting. He graduated from AU in December 2011 with a BS in Accounting. This is Ross' third semester as a Supplemental Instruction Leader for Principles of Financial Accounting. After graduation, he will be working in the field of forensic accounting.
Hannah Kulakow
Hannah Kulakow is a junior Accounting major, with a minor in International Studies. She is from Harrisonburg, VA, and this is her first semester as an SI for Managerial Accounting. In addition to being an SI, Hannah is also a Green Eagle for Nebraska Hall, an Honors 101 mentor, and an assistant art teacher in Tenley. Outside of class and work, Hannah likes baking and crafting and is beginning mental preparation for the CPA exam.
Christopher Dover
Chris is a junior Business major, with minors in Economics and Biology. He is from Singapore and this is his first semester as an SI for Managerial Accounting. When not studying, Chris can be found playing the piano in one of the Katzen practice rooms. He also has a passion for American Sign Language and likes to immerse himself at Deaf community events.
Sandra Cai Chen
Sandra is currently a junior majoring in Philosophy and minoring in Economics. She was born and raised in Mexico City but is of Chinese descent. This is her first semester as an SI leader for Economics. Her academic interests include existential, post-modernist, and non-Western philosophy as well as Latin American literature. In her free time (which is almost never), she likes to indulge her obsession with the writings of Argentine author Julio Cortázar and Mexican writer Juan Rulfo.
