Arts Management | Internships

Internships are a core component of the graduate program in arts management. They provide students with the opportunity to gain skills and knowledge, and to make connections that complement the theory gained in coursework. The program requires that each student take six credit hours of internships, divided into two separate experiences. A three-credit internship roughly corresponds to working 20+ hours for a full, 14-week semester. Students can take an internship during the fall or spring semester or over the summer.

Students benefit from our network of alumni working in the area and throughout the country, and our active listserv for internship and job opportunities. Additionally, students have unlimited access to American University's Career Center which helps students with resumes, interview skills, and internship searches.
