Amanda Berry
Assistant Professor
Department of Literature
- Professor Berry teaches courses in British literature including the Romantic period. She also teaches courses in contemporary literary criticism and theory, narratology, the novel, and queer theory. Her research and published work consider the relationship between literary texts, history, and other cultural phenomena. She has published articles on Edmund Burke’s ideas about British social order, human difference, and the sublime; the poet Percy Shelley’s representation of intimate relationships between men as a crucial component of his endeavor to write and theorize dramatic representation; and queer notions of time and marriage in Shakespeare's "Cymbeline." Dr. Berry also teaches undergraduate general education courses, including Interpreting Literature, the Literary Imagination, and Great Books: Western World. In summer, as part of her ongoing research in the popular genres of the comic book and graphic novel, she offers a course entitled "Narrative and the Comic Book."
