Recommended Course Plans
Economics is a discipline that builds ideas and skills over time, so it’s a good idea to take certain courses in sequence. Students considering the BA in Economics should do their best to take ECON-100, ECON-200, ECON-300, ECON-301, STAT-202 and ECON-322 as soon as possible. Mastery of the material in these six courses makes acing the remaining electives a (relative) breeze.

What if you decide on the BA in Economics a little late and this plan won’t work exactly? The best thing to do is to take the intermediate economic theory sequence (ECON-300 and 301) concurrently with STAT-202 and ECON-322 as soon as possible. Some ECON-3xx courses do not have ECON-300 and/or 301 as prerequisites and can be taken at the same time as the intermediate theory courses.
The International Track of the BA in Economics requires students to take a wide range of courses with international emphasis from several departments.

Get ECON-371 and 372 in next. You may take ECON-371 and 372 at the same time as other 3xx level ECON classes, although you will get the most out of the international-focused classes if you have first mastered the material from 371 and 372.

In the BA/MA program, you will rev up your skills in economic logic and statistical methods, so you will be able to start your career ahead of the competition.
If you decided to pursue the BA/MA after you took the intermediate theory sequence (ECON 300-and ECON-301), take the sequence of Calculus - ECON-500 - ECON-501 as soon as possible, concurrent with some ECON-3xx classes. Then take ECON-505, ECON-522 and ECON-523, followed by ECON-480. You can take some of your other 15 credits of ECON-5xx electives concurrently with ECON-522 and ECON-523.
