AU Club Field Hockey was founded in the fall of 2007. The team accepts players of all experience levels, any gender, and anyone affiliated with the University is eligible to join (students, faculty, etc.) The team practices 3 days a week on the Jacobs turf field.
AUCFH competes in the Mason Dixon division of the National Field Hockey League (NFHL), the governing body of all club field hockey teams in the country. Also in the Mason Dixon division are George Washington University, George Mason University, Loyola University, US Naval Academy, Salisbury University, Georgetown University, James Madison University, University of Maryland College Park, and University of Maryland Baltimore.
In the fall, the team participates in league play, completing a minimum of 7 games to be eligible to attend the playoff tournament, which includes the top 14 teams in the country. This past fall of 2009 was the team's first competitive season, and they qualified for the Championship tournament in Virginia Beach. AUCFH is excited to have had such a successful first season, and is looking forward to what's to come!
The spring season is less demanding than the fall. AUCFH competes in several tournaments, notably a 7v7 indoor tournament at UMD College Park every February, and the NFHL Annual Spring Tournament each April.
The team also participates in fundraisers and social events, which adds to the team's trust and performance on the field.
